Behind the Scenes Notes:
The idea for the short story came from a video that I had watched a couple months back and it was entitled "The Faerie Faith." It was posted on Youtube and the main reason why I had watched it was because Brian Froud was interviewed in the film, and Brian Froud is one of my favorite artists (I fell in love with his work when I watched the movie Labyrinth as a kid). As I watched the film, I watched the different people that the filmmakers interviewed and one of the people was a man who's story that inspired me to write the story about these mysterious creatures. I've posted the video below so that you can actually hear the original story.
I've changed the little details of the story to make it a little more akin to a fairy tale or one of those kind of campfire stories (although, duly noted, that the story itself didn't really take place with the three characters gathering around a campfire). I also saw the three main characters being sailors, world-weary sea-dogs who enjoyed spinning a good yarn (also trying to outmatch each other with their stories). That's pretty much it, really. I understand that my tale isn't really what would be considered the greatest story in human history, but I enjoyed writing it, all the same, hope you folks enjoyed it!
