Preview of Things to Come

The picture above is a caricature that I did for another blog of which I am posting various articles about illustrators that I admire, this coincides with the previous post here. I shall post the links to the posts up here when available. This painting was done with waterproof ink and watercolor paints.
Keep a sharp eye out for my next post.

Howard Carter's 138th

I found out that yesterday that it was Howard Carter's 138th Birthday on the 9th of May (yesterday, according to the post). I have always enjoyed Egyptology because I remember learning about it in school and it has intrigued me ever since. For those who don't know who Howard Carter is, here is a brief synopsis: Carter was an Egyptologist who was hired by Lord Carnarvon to a dig in Egypt. Carter was famed to be one of the first to find King Tutankhamun (or, the colloquialism of King Tut). I just thought that it was fun to paint this since Carter was the only one out of the expedition who wasn't effected by the Curse of King Tut, so what better way to memorialize the hero than a mummy.

Dog Days

These pictures were done when I was just killing time the other day. They were all drawn first with pencil and then outlined in waterproof ink and then painted over with watercolor paint.

This picture was kind of my favorite to draw out with his obnoxiously long ears. As you can tell, some of the green was still on the brush when I painted the eyebrows, my apologies.
Keep a sharp eye out for my next post.

Summer & Statues

Although these pictures were taken last year, on a vacation to Connecticut (these are pictures of two different kinds of statues in Kent, Connecticut), I thought that these were pretty interesting pictures.
This is of a statue that is near an art museum in Kent, I believe. I particularly like the blooming hydrangea in the background.

These were a stone's throw away from the previous statue. The stone wall behind these statuesque figures (ah, wordplay) was particularly interesting.
Just thought that they were good pictures to start off summer. Perhaps I might even draw versions of them in the near future.
Until then, keep a sharp eye out for my next post.

Domovoi Awareness Minute (or so)

These pictures were done very quickly for a school project about raising awareness for Domovoi Preservation and such. The drawing itself (in the center) was drawn with waterproof ink and then painted in watercolor paint.
This was drawn quickly with a pencil and then painted over with watercolor paint and then outlined again with a fine point pen.
This was done with the same medium as the previous picture
This was drawn with waterproof ink and then I got a bit tired and finished it up with fine point pen.

More Up-to-date Draft

Here is the most current version of the commission that I have been set to do. As you can see, there are small changes, but the overall format of the picture has remained the same. This was done with black waterproof ink, drawn with a dip pen, the majority of this was painted with watercolors (save for the cameo which was done with a red permanent marker and black waterproof ink), the lettering (and the sort of S shaped decoration) inside the scroll was drawn in Sharpie pen (black, blue, and red), the coat that is hanging up behind the caricature of me was (as previously mentioned) drawn first with a dip pen and waterproof ink and then I used a paintbrush to fill it in with the same ink.
Right-o, that's it, for now. Hopefully you shall see this somewhere else here, soon. I shall post the link to such a page as soon as I am able. Thanks.
Keep a sharp eye out.

Bubo Scribbelus

If you readers will remember, I had drawn the owl at the bottom of this post a good couple of months ago. I just thought, purely out of whim, to draw another version of that very same owl, just so I can keep you readers updated as to what's going on (although this owl isn't what you might call "current" considering that I drew it back in March). I just wanted to let you readers know that I shall post an actually new drawing up here in a couple of days. Hopefully, it will be the new drawing that I've been doing to correct my spelling mistakes that I did on the previous post (just see the blog post directly before this one and you shall see). Right-o, keep a sharp eye out.
This current owl was drawn with Sharpie pens of three different colors (blue, red, and black).

Rough Draft Commission

This picture is actually a rough draft of a commission that I have been asked to do for an art gallery's blog. The reason why this is a rough draft is because, if you look very closely, there is a series of spelling errors in the word "recommending" and "mentioning" (there is a vacant place where the first "n" should be in "recommending" and also in "mentioning" it's spelled as "mentiong"). Still working hastily to get a corrected version of this done, just thought I should keep you all posted.
